Accepting the hearing issue

Any parent who is told that their child has a hearing impairment will initially feel uneasy. We want to help you to deal with the emotional aspects of hearing impairments.

Knowing that their child has hearing issues certainly leaves parents worrying about what the future will hold. It will be difficult to accept what the doctors are saying. You may ask yourself: “Why does it have to be us?” This is a perfectly understandable reaction.

Take your time to accept that your child has a hearing impairment. However, do not take time when it comes to supporting your child. Collect information which will help you to understand the practical side of the situation and if applicable, get in touch with organizations for deaf children.
